where can i find updated, 2024, listing of resources for rental assistance for senior with arrears and impending eviction

Answer

Thank you for your question.

There are several resources available for rental assistance, some of which depend on where you live.

211: Housing Expenses

The following advice appears on the 211: Housing Expenses website:

Contact 211

Your local 211 is the best resource for help finding options to pay your rent, mortgage, or utilities bills and stay in your home. You can call 211 to speak with someone immediately, or use the search on this page to find more contact information. Be ready to answer a few questions about your current living situation, any income you have, and any children or other dependents who live with you.

Talk to your Landlord or Lender

First, contact your landlord, property manager, or mortgage lender to discuss your situation. There may be options available to you, like payment plans, that you're not aware of and can help you stay in your home.

Know Your Rights

Because protections against eviction and foreclosure differ by state, you can also use the  Local Housing Legal FAQ created by the Pew Charitable Trusts and Stanford Law School for searchable information about eviction and rent protections by state.

Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERA)

The U.S. Treasury Department's Emergency Rental Assistance (ERA) program has provided local communities with funds to help support housing stability for eligible renters throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

To find which funds are available in your area, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau provides information on their Get Help Paying Rent and Bills webpage. This website lists programs that provide rental assistance and explains your legal rights as a renter.

For answers to questions about reporting, technical issues, eligible uses of funds, or other items related to the Emergency Rental Assistance program, visit the ERA Self-Service Resources page.

I hope this information is helpful. If this is not what you need, or if there is any other assistance we can provide, please let us know.
