Are there transcripts from the private hearings of the Rogers Commission?
Hi!

I'm a researcher who has been working on a project about the Challenger accident. I have seen the Rogers Report and transcripts from the public hearings on GovInfo.gov but I wanted to know if any transcripts exist from the closed-door, private hearings.

I'm specifically interested in the transcript from the closed-door hearing on February 10, 1986, at the Old Executive Building in DC, if a transcript exists.

If there is a transcript, I would be so grateful if someone would point me in the right direction!

Answer

Thank you for your question.

There is a publicly-available transcript of the February 10, 1986 executive session on page 243 of Volume 4 of the Report of Presidential Commission on the Space Shuttle Challenger Accident.

You can find a PDF version on the Defense Technical Information Center website at https://apps.dtic.mil/sti/pdfs/ADA171404.pdf#page=248

NASA has also made an HTML version of this transcript available on their NASA History page at https://history.nasa.gov/rogersrep/v4part3.htm

It is also available from Google Books at https://www.google.com/books/edition/Report_to_the_President/VxpdndYqtYUC

I hope this information is helpful. Let me know if this is not the transcript you are looking for, or if the links don't work.
